Uruquay

Karumbe (which means “turtle” in the native Guaraní language) is a Uruguayan non-profit NGO that unites a group of researchers, conservationists, fishermen and students. Their mission is to protect endangered marine biodiversity, mainly sea turtles and their habitats, by promoting the sustainable development of fishing communities and looking for alternatives to reduce the impact of human activities on marine animals. Karumbé’s work includes research, environmental education and conservation activities, as well as collaborations with other organizations and institutions at both local and global levels.
