ARCAS's objectives are to rescue, rehabilitate and reintroduce into their natural habitat wild animals seized from illegal traffickers. They further promote and assist in the creation and management of protected habitat areas for wild animals, and raise awareness among Guatemalans and visiting tourists about the need to conserve natural resources through a program of education and information dissemination.

Las Guacamayas Biological Station was developed in 1996 with the objective to support the works of conservation around Laguna del Tigre National Park. The Scarlet Macaw is the flag species of the area, being a species that requires large extensions of habitat its conservation guarantees at the same time the conservation of other species of plants and animals.
